Review:
Picronix is a Picross Puzzle game released in 2025 on Nintendo Switch. Picross games are a dime a dozen on Nintendo Switch, so the question is, how does this stack up to others in the genre?
The presentation is decent at least, featuring clean, easy-to-read visuals backed by a relaxed synthesized soundtrack. It’s nothing special, but it gets the job done.
The gameplay is also largely decent, without any major issues. You can mark cels as filled, X-ed, or test-mark to help deduce a solution, all good here.
No, the issues here come down to content and features. There’s no tutorial, no hint system, no touchscreen support, no multiplayer support, no music or display options, and the 88 puzzles included here for $7 seems extremely stingy compared to other Picross games on the platform.
In the end, all of this adds up to a Picross Puzzle game that’s sufficient, but far from great, and it’s hard to recommend Picronix when you have numerous better options on Nintendo Switch.
tl;dr – Picronix is a Picross Puzzle game with decent gameplay, but sorely lacking in features and content. While this isn’t a terrible entry in the genre, you have multiple better options on Nintendo Switch.
