Nintendo Switch 2 Reviews: Stealth Games and Misc. Games

Here’s games in each category that I have reviewed so far on the Nintendo Switch 2, from best to worst. Note: If multiple games have the same score, they will be sorted alphabetically.

Stealth Games

GameGenreGrade
Indiana Jones and the Great CircleFirst-Person Action-RPG / StealthA+
tl;drIndiana Jones and The Great Circle follows everyone’s favorite whip-cracking Nazi-bashing archaeologist in a new story set between Raiders and Last Crusade, with Indy following the trail of a giant man who ransacked Indy’s museum to steal one specific artifact. This game is an absolutely brilliant interpretation of the Indiana Jones formula in First-Person Action-RPG form, with wonderful exploration, great combat, thrilling stealth, delightful puzzles, and an outstanding presentation… though that presentation is somewhat compromised on Nintendo Switch 2. Regardless, this is still an absolutely must-play game, and even with this version’s shortcomings, the Nintendo Switch 2 is still a great place to play it.

Misc Games

GameGenreGrade
Big WalkFirst-Person Open-World PuzzleA
tl;dr Big Walk is a family-friendly online-only multiplayer-focused Open-World First-Person Puzzle game that has up to twelve players exploring a massive island, solving co-op puzzles together, and trying to communicate as they work on goals throughout the game. This is a true delight of a co-op experience that perfectly blends the cooperation, exploration, and puzzle-solving, with a focus on effectively communicating with other players. You need to have friends to join you online to play this game, but if you can grab one or two or ten friends to hop into this game with you, I wholeheartedly recommend it – this game is an absolute delight.
StrayMisc.A-
tl;drStray is a game that has players taking the role of a cat exploring a post-apocalyptic cyberpunk-style city, and while it is difficult to pin to a genre, it shines through with its blend of superb level design and gameplay variety, its engrossing story and lore, and its impressive graphics that, while not a massive upgrade over the Nintendo Switch version, still look excellent on Nintendo Switch 2. And while I have some nitpicks with controls and occasionally unclear goals, overall I think this is a magnificent game that absolutely needs to be played.
Kirby Air RidersRacing / Misc.B-
tl;dr Kirby Air Riders is a Racing Game that’s a bit like a Kart Racer, but is largely unlike anything else out there, thanks largely to its odd one-button (or two-button, for a few things) control scheme. Unfortunately, it is the game’s stubborn adherence to these overly-simple controls that takes what would otherwise be a spectacular game with a gorgeous presentation and tons of content and leaves it feeling like a flawed shadow of what it could have been.
Chillin’ By the FireMisc.C-
tl;dr Chillin’ by the Fire is a game where players chop and arrange firewood to make their fire as hot and long-lasting as possible. There’s not much thought that goes into playing the game, and the underwhelming presentation works against any sort of “cozy” feel this game may have. It’s unique enough that some players may find it interesting, but I expect most will play it for a short while and then never play it again.
Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome TourTech Demo / EducationalD
tl;dr Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour is a Tech Demo and Educational Game that is designed to show off the Nintendo Switch 2 hardware. Unfortunately, it’s poorly-designed, tedious, has no interest in actually being fun, and the fact that it costs $10 and isn’t included with the Nintendo Switch seems almost like an insult. There is some utility to this application, but I don’t recommend you buy it. This is not the sort of nasty money grab you want to encourage by paying for it.
