Nintendo Switch 2 Reviews: Strategy and Tower Defense

Here’s the games I have reviewed so far on the Nintendo Switch 2 in each genre, from best to worst. Note: If multiple games have the same score, they will be sorted alphabetically.

  1. Strategy-RPG
  2. Strategy
  3. Tower Defense

Strategy-RPG

Final Fantasy Tactics – The Ivalice Chronicles Nintendo Switch 2 EditionTurn-Based Strategy-RPGA-
tl;drFinal Fantasy Tactics is a genre-naming game for the “Tactics-style” Turn-Based Strategy RPG genre, and for good reason, it’s outstanding, and it is presented here in the best version we’ve ever gotten of the game, albeit not the definitive version, nor one without its own flaws and frustrations. Still, the original game has aged well, and the new quality-of-life improvements and voiced dialogue makes this game even better. If you enjoy Strategy-RPGs, consider this a must-buy.
Relayer Advanced Definitive EditionTurn-Based Strategy-RPGC
tl;drRelayer is a Turn-Based Strategy-RPG where players use mechs to fight evil alien mechs in a pretentious sci-fi story that accompanies fairly standard Strategy-RPG gameplay. Fans of the genre who like mechs may find this game worthwhile, but most players are much better off playing something else instead.

Strategy

GameGenreGrade
Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the GoddessAction / Strategy / Tower DefenseB
tl;drKunitsu-Gami is a game that combines Third-Person Action, Strategy, and Tower Defense in a setting inspired by Japanese mythology that has players taking the role of a warrior accompanying a shrine maiden seeking to rally villagers to fight off malicious spirits and seal them away. While all of these individual elements have areas where they’re lacking, together they form something unique and well worth trying out if the individual parts of this game appeal to you.
Two Point MuseumManagement SimulationB
tl;drTwo Point Museum doesn’t fix but rather minimizes the issues earlier games in the series had in its latest museum-centric Management Simulation, and adds an engaging new “expedition” mechanic to make for a great new way to progress your game. There are still problems with menu navigation and disobedient employees, and this release does nothing to make use of the Nintendo Switch 2’s unique features, but overall this is a solid entry in the genre worth picking up.
