Review:

Freshly Frosted is a family-friendly Puzzle game released in 2022 on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. This game has players placing conveyor belts in a donut-making factory to connect the ovens spitting out the fresh pastries with the receiving shelf that represents their destination, passing by stations adding frosting, sprinkles, and other toppings along the way.

One of the more wonderful elements in Freshly Frosted is its presentation, which uses inviting, clean 3D visuals with bright, colorful pastels that make the confections look delightfully tasty and gives everything a lighthearted atmosphere (literally so, as the donut factories are surrounded by fluffy clouds). This is accentuated even more by the wonderful narration that progresses as you play through the game, seamlessly chiming in with helpful advice if you mess up, as well as a delightful synthesized soundtrack that is similarly light and fluffy. For good examples of this, check out the Title Theme, A Quiet Spring Day, Cloud Gazing, and Pink and Gold Sunsets. This game has one of those soundtracks that I could easily see myself just leaving on while I chill out and relax, and combined with everything else it gave this game such a positive attitude that I found myself smiling throughout my time playing it.

The gameplay here is no slouch either, though it doesn’t do anything to revolutionize Puzzle games. This is just a really well-crafted Puzzle game that’s a little like a Numberlink-style Puzzle, but it’s different enough to set it apart. And with 144 puzzles to play through, I think it more than justifies its $10 price tag.

In short, if you’re looking for a relaxing Puzzle game to add to your Nintendo Switch, Freshly Frosted is a superb choice, pairing good puzzles, a significant amount of content, and an absolutely delightful presentation. This is well worth a look!

tl;dr – Freshly Frosted is a family-friendly Puzzle game where players place conveyor belts to guide donuts from their ovens to the display shelf. The puzzle mechanics here are simple but good, and the presentation is absolutely delightful, with a wonderfully upbeat and calming atmosphere that makes this game a joy to play. Puzzle fans will definitely want to give this one a look.
