Review:
Cook, Serve, Delicious, Trilogy!, released on Nintendo Switch in 2023 and ported to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2024, is a Compilation of the first three games in the Cook, Serve, Delicious! series, all Arcade-style games with some Simulation elements, previously released on Nintendo Switch from 2019 to 2023.
I have separately reviewed these games. Here is what I thought of each of the games in this collection:
| Game | Genre | # of Players | Score |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cook, Serve, Delicious! | Arcade / Simulation | 1-4 Co-Op / Competitive (Local) | B- |
tl;drCook, Serve, Delicious! is an Arcade-style game with some Simulation elements that has players managing a restaurant and serving orders to customers. I think this is a more frantic game than its sequel, and it has a lot less in the way of variety, but it’s still an enjoyable game that’s worth a look. | |||
| Cook, Serve, Delicious! 2!! | Arcade / Simulation | 1-2 Co-Op (Local Split-Screen) | B |
tl;drCook, Serve, Delicious! 2!! is an Arcade-style game with Simulation elements that doesn’t play much like Overcooked or Cooking Mama. It’s more like a food version of Simon Says, with multiple steps for some items. The game does a good job keeping things interesting by having you manage multiple things at once, and it makes for a good co-op experience, although it’s frustrating that it doesn’t do a better job to make important information immediately accessible to players in the chaos. | |||
| Cook, Serve, Delicious! 3?! | Arcade / Simulation | 1-2 Co-Op (Local) | B |
tl;drCook, Serve, Delicious! 3?! is an Arcade-style game with some Simulation elements that has players managing a food truck and serving orders to customers. In many ways, this is the most streamlined game yet in the series, and while this comes with positive and negative qualities, one unambiguously positive addition is the new “Chill Mode” which lets players take on the game’s challenges at a more relaxed pace. Overall, it’s hard to say whether 2 or 3 is the better game, but I can definitely see this being the better pick for more casual players. | |||
In short, I think all three of these are pretty good games, though I do think the second and third games are both an improvement over the first, with each of these latter games offering something unique, though I believe all three games are worth playing.
Okay, but what about value? Individually, the combined prices of these games comes out to $46, while this bundle sells for $35, which is a pretty decent savings. Things don’t look quite as good when you look at sale prices though. As of this writing, this bundle’s sale price of roughly $8.75 puts it over two dollars more than the cost of the individual games.
Overall, it’s a shame that Cook, Serve, Delicious, Trilogy!’s sale price just isn’t as good as the individual games, because it would be a lot easier to recommend then. It contains three great games, and when you’re just looking at the standard pricing it’s a good deal… but if you want the best deal on these games, this isn’t the place to find that deal.
tl;dr – Cook, Serve, Delicious, Trilogy! contains the first three games in the Cook, Serve, Delicious series of Arcade-style games with Simulation elements, and all three of these games are quite good. The bundle, on the other hand, is only a good deal if you don’t bother waiting for sales, because its sale price is more than the individual cost of the games when they’re on sale. In other words, if you really want to save money, you’re better off getting the individual games when they go on sale.
