Review:
Monument Valley 1&2 Bundle, released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch in 2025, is a Compilation containing the two named games, both character-based Isometric Puzzle games originally released on mobile devices in 2014 and 2017 respectively and ported to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch in 2025 in individual releases.
I have separately reviewed these games. Here is what I thought of each of the games in this collection:
| Game | Genre | # of Players | Score |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monument Valley | Isometric Puzzle | 1 | B+ |
tl;drMonument Valley is a family-friendly character-based Isometric Puzzle game where players need to navigate M.C. Escher-like structures by making use of perspective to form pathways. The presentation and puzzle design here is fantastic, though the game is a bit short, the gamepad controls are far from ideal, and touchscreen controls aren’t supported on Nintendo Switch. Despite these issues, this is still well worth a look for Puzzle game fans on Nintendo Switch. | |||
| Monument Valley 2 | Isometric Puzzle | 1 | B+ |
tl;drMonument Valley 2 is a family-friendly character-based Isometric Puzzle game much like the first game, where players need to navigate M.C. Escher-like structures by making use of perspective to form pathways, but this time they’re joined by their character’s daughter, whose movements they must also keep in mind. The presentation and puzzle design here is once again fantastic, though the game is still short, the gamepad controls are far from ideal, and touchscreen controls aren’t supported on Nintendo Switch. Despite these issues, this is still well worth a look for Puzzle game fans on Nintendo Switch. | |||
In short, the gameplay for both of these games is pretty similar, though the sequel gives you a second character you can’t control but must keep in mind when working to solve puzzles, which is a nice additional twist. And while both games are good, they’re also a bit on the short side, and the Nintendo Switch versions of the game inexplicably lack touchscreen controls, even though these games were really designed with touchscreen controls in mind. They’re still superb games, but it definitely feels like they could have been better.
When looking at the question of value, this bundle cuts $2 off the price of getting both games separately, which isn’t very much, but I suppose it is at least something if you already know you’re getting both games. $2 is also the amount of savings that was in the games’ only sale price during its launch sale, so as far as I know at this time, those savings are sorta’ a wash if you’re judging based on sale prices.
In the end, I think this pair of Puzzle games are both excellent, even if a few tweaks could have made them better, and this bundle is a decent enough value, even if the savings it presents are minimal at best. If you’re a Puzzle game fan, this is a solid choice.
tl;dr – Monument Valley 1&2 Bundle is a Compilation containing the two named games, both character-based Isometric Puzzle games with levels seemingly inspired by M.C. Escher art. The games themselves are excellent, even if they’re a bit short and the controls on Nintendo Switch are less than ideal. And this bundle is reasonably-priced, even if it doesn’t offer much in savings. Overall, this is a good choice for Puzzle fans.
Grade: B+
