Review:

Run & Jump Guy is a Platformer released in 2024 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. And this game… look, it’s an obvious Mario copycat. However, as I often say with copycat games, being a copycat doesn’t necessarily make a game bad. It all comes down to whether the game is a good copycat. And I’ll just cut straight to it – this is not a good copycat.

The physics don’t feel right, the controls are inconsistent, the levels are bland and repetitive, the enemies feel uninspired, there’s little gameplay variety… while this functions as a basic Platformer, it doesn’t really do much more than that.

The game more or less looks the part, with colorful 2D pixel art visuals, though they seem painfully generic. And the chiptune soundtrack is so bizarrely quiet that you’ll need to pump up your TV’s volume to hear it… and trust me, it’s not worth the trouble.

I’d say Run & Jump Guy is a case of “we already have Mario at home”, except this is on Nintendo Switch, and we literally already have Mario at home. I don’t know why anyone would waste money on this low-effort garbage when there’s plenty of Mario games right there just waiting to be played. Do that instead.

tl;dr – Run & Jump Guy is a Platformer that’s clearly copying Mario, and doing a terrible job of it. There’s no originality here, no fun gameplay, no variety, and absolutely no reason you’d want to play this over the countless Mario games already on the Nintendo Switch. Don’t waste money on this game – play one of those other games instead.
