Review:
Sabec’s Sudoku Puzzle game, simply titled Sudoku, was released on Nintendo Switch in 2026. This game procedurally creates Sudoku puzzles in three difficulty levels.
The presentation here is pretty good, using unlockable color schemes for its simple visuals, backed by a relaxing soundtrack that works well for the thoughtful gameplay. The numbers are clean and easy to read too, which is always important for Sudoku games.
When it comes to the gameplay, there are a number of problems. Firstly, while the game allows you to mark cels or create “notes”, every time you do so it kicks you out of the number selection menu, meaning if you want to fill multiple instances of the same number in succession, you need to re-enter the number selection menu each time, which is annoying.
There are also no options to check your answers so far in the puzzle, no way to adjust options to highlight conflicts, no way to opt to have conflicting notes removed after entering a number, no touchscreen controls in handheld mode, and no multiplayer options. When other Sudoku games on the market are more feature-complete at half the price or lower than this game’s $10 price tag, it’s safe to say your Sudoku game simply can’t compete.
And that’s ultimately what it comes down to. Sabec’s Sudoku game is overpriced, feature-poor, with clunky controls. While its presentation is good, this hardly matters when the game itself just can’t measure up to other competitors on the market.
tl;dr – Sabec’s Sudoku Puzzle game, simply titles Sudoku, is a competent take on the puzzle with a good presentation, but it has clunky, frustrating controls and is sorely lacking features for a game that’s more expensive than multiple better alternatives. Get one of those other games instead.
