Review:
Mathify, released in 2026 on Nintendo Switch, is a game where players are presented with multiple circles each containing a number and/or math operation (divide, multiply, square root, etc.) and must combine these in an order that produces an intended result. In other words, it’s a series of “order of operation”-style math puzzles. And… that’s it.
The presentation here is simple, just showing the colorful circles with white text on them, backed by a black background that looks like a blackboard. Add to this repetitive synthesized music, and you have a presentation that works for this game, but doesn’t do anything noteworthy or memorable.
As for the gameplay… I just described it. There’s not really anything here that goes much beyond a bunch of flash card problems. There’s no timer, nothing to add variety or drive you to do better, it’s just one order of operation math puzzle after another. This game doesn’t even bother to let you select numbers with the touchscreen in handheld mode – you’re always selecting them with normal gamepad controls no matter how you play.
I suppose as an educational exercise, Mathify succeeds at what it’s aiming to do. But what it’s aiming to do is so simple and boring that it fails miserably as a game. Unless you’re a student trying to wrap your head around order of operation, I can’t see Mathify being worth your time and money.
tl;dr – Mathify is an Educational game where players need to combine different numbers and math operations to produce an intended result, in short being nothing more than an order of operation math exercise. It succeeds at that, but fails miserably at doing anything to be an enjoyable game. Unless you want a videogame equivalent of math flash card problems, skip this.
