SteamWorld Heist Complete Bundle, released in 2024 on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, is a Compilation containing Steamworld Heist: Ultimate Edition and SteamWorld Heist II, separately released on Nintendo Switch in 2017 and 2024, respectively.

I have separately reviewed these games. Here is what I thought of each of the games in this collection:

GameGenre# of PlayersScore
Steamworld Heist: Ultimate EditionTurn-Based Strategy-RPG1B
tl;drSteamworld Heist is a Turn-Based Strategy-RPG with Platformer elements, where you position Wild West-themed robots in shootouts to try to ensure that they have the right trajectories to take out enemies. It’s a unique spin on the genre, but it’s undercut by a lack of character customization and game mechanics that limit the strategy of combat and make missions repetitive. It’s still good, but it should have been better than this.
Steamworld Heist IITurn-Based Strategy-RPG1B+
tl;drSteamWorld Heist II is a side-scrolling Turn-Based Strategy-RPG that shifts its setting to a seafaring steampunk robot adventure, with a new weapon-based class system that adds some nice customization the first game lacked, along with an excellent soundtrack. There are some pacing issues, but overall this is a step up from the previous game, and absolutely a game that Strategy-RPG fans should pick up.

In short, these are both solid Strategy-RPG titles, with the second game improving on the first in multiple ways. That said, I think if you’re a fan of the genre or of the SteamWorld franchise as whole, you can’t go wrong with either game here.

So then, let’s talk value. Separately, these two games would cost a combined total of $50, with this bundle selling for $40, which is a pretty good savings on the two games. If we look at sale prices, the original SteamWorld Heist regularly drops down to $2 and its sequel frequently goes down to $10 or so, while this bundle has also dropped down to $10. In other words, while it’s not much of a savings when looking at sales, it’s still saving you a bit of money this way, basically like you’re getting the original SteamWorld Heist for free along with its sequel.

Either way, this is an all-around win both in terms of pricing and quality of games. If you’re a Strategy-RPG fan or a SteamWorld fan and have yet to get this pair of games, this is an ideal way to do so, and I recommend you do – these are very good games in a value package.

tl;dr – SteamWorld Heist Complete Bundle includes SteamWorld Heist 1 & 2, both very good side-scrolling Strategy-RPG games well worth getting, and this bundle provides a good value. Overall, if you’re a fan of the genre or franchise and have yet to get these games, this is an excellent way to do so.

Grade: B+
