Review:

Monument Valley: The Collection is a Compilation containing the first three games in the Monument Valley series, with all three games released separately on Nintendo Switch in 2025, and with this bundle also releasing in 2025.

I have separately reviewed these games. Here is what I thought of each of the games in this collection:

GameGenre# of PlayersScore
Monument ValleyIsometric Puzzle1B+
tl;drMonument Valley is a family-friendly character-based Isometric Puzzle game where players need to navigate M.C. Escher-like structures by making use of perspective to form pathways. The presentation and puzzle design here is fantastic, though the game is a bit short, the gamepad controls are far from ideal, and touchscreen controls aren’t supported on Nintendo Switch. Despite these issues, this is still well worth a look for Puzzle game fans on Nintendo Switch.
Monument Valley 2Isometric Puzzle1B+
tl;drMonument Valley 2 is a family-friendly character-based Isometric Puzzle game much like the first game, where players need to navigate M.C. Escher-like structures by making use of perspective to form pathways, but this time they’re joined by their character’s daughter, whose movements they must also keep in mind. The presentation and puzzle design here is once again fantastic, though the game is still short, the gamepad controls are far from ideal, and touchscreen controls aren’t supported on Nintendo Switch. Despite these issues, this is still well worth a look for Puzzle game fans on Nintendo Switch.
Monument Valley 3Isometric Puzzle1B+
tl;drMonument Valley 3 is a family-friendly character-based Isometric Puzzle game much like the first two games, where players need to navigate M.C. Escher-like structures by making use of perspective to form pathways, with this game adding new elements like boats you can navigate to different positions. The presentation and puzzle design here is once again fantastic, though the game is still short, the gamepad controls are far from ideal, and touchscreen controls aren’t supported on Nintendo Switch. Despite these issues, this is still well worth a look for Puzzle game fans on Nintendo Switch.

In short, all three of these are excellent games. They’re all fairly short, and have a simple but appealing minimalist presentation, and perspective-warping gameplay. I think the third game is slightly better than the first two due to its wonderful soundtrack and some of its gameplay additions, but in its individual release I felt like this was balanced out by its $20 price seeming bloated for its short play time of just a few hours, which is comparable to the first two games, even though the price was twice as much.

I suppose that leads into the question of value. As I’ve just noted, these games will separately cost you a combined $40, while this bundle sells for $30, which is a decent discount, and certainly better than the savings found in the Monument Valley 1&2 Bundle, which included the first two games and only saved you a measly $2.

In the end, Monument Valley: The Collection is a good value for a collection containing three very good, if fairly short, games. If you enjoy Puzzle games and haven’t played these yet on the mobile platform (where they likely feel more at home), I think this bundle package is well worth picking up.

tl;dr – Monument Valley: The Collection is a Compilation containing the first three Monument Valley games, all character-based Isometric Puzzle games with levels seemingly inspired by M.C. Escher art. The games themselves are excellent, even if they’re a bit short and the controls on Nintendo Switch are less than ideal. And this bundle offers a decent discount on the trio. Overall, this is a good choice for Puzzle fans.

Grade: B+
