Review:

Retro Collection: 3 in 1, released in 2026 on Nintendo Switch, is a Compilation of three Puzzle games, all separately released on Nintendo Switch in 2026.

Here is what I thought about the included games:

GameGenre# of PlayersScore
Lines 98 ClassicUnlimited Pattern Match-5 Puzzle1C-
tl;drLines 98 Classic is a version of the classic PC Match-5 Unlimited Pattern Puzzle game Color Lines, with this version clearly looking to imitate the look of the Windows release of the game. This is a decent but mediocre port of a decent but mediocre Puzzle game, and while players who are nostalgic for the Windows release of the game may find this charming, I think most players have better options when it comes to Puzzle games on Nintendo Switch.
Minesweeper ClassicPuzzle1C-
tl;drMinesweeper Classic is a take on the classic Microsoft PC Puzzle game, and by “a take on”, I mean it’s about as blatant a copycat as you’ll ever find, even down to copying the look of the Microsoft original. Yet despite this shameless copying, this release still lacks features that were in that 36 year-old game. While the core gameplay here is still good, I cannot in good conscience recommend this cynical (and possibly infringing) release.
Mr. StackmanPuzzle-Platformer / Arcade1C-
tl;drMr. Stackman is an Arcade-style Puzzle-Platformer that has you moving a character around pushing boxes to try to clear them out Tetris-style while avoiding them falling on your head. Unfortunately, your move set is so restrictive and your movement so sluggish that winning and losing seems down to pure luck, and playing this game is tedious and frustrating. Don’t bother with this.

In short, all three are Puzzle games that present a nostalgic retro presentation, but all three games have issues – Minesweeper Classic is lacking features, and the other two games suffer due to clunky controls, among other things. While not terrible, each of these games has issues that make them less than ideal for anyone not driven by nostalgia.

Still, there’s the question of value in this bundle, and here I suppose Retro Collection: 3 in 1 does present a better option compared to the individual games. Separately, these games would cost $17, with this bundle selling for $15. And comparing sale prices, this bundle looks even better, since the individual games go on sale for $2 each, while this bundle’s launch sale put it at just over $2, making the bundle like getting almost two of the individual games for free even when comparing sale prices.

Still, it’s hard to be enthusiastic about three sub-par knockoffs of Puzzle games from three decades ago. If you’re into nostalgia, you may find Retro Collection: 3 in 1 to be a fun trip down memory lane. But otherwise, even though this bundle offers some decent savings over the individual games, I can’t really recommend this.

tl;dr – Retro Collection: 3 in 1 is a Compilation containing Lines 98 Classic, Minesweeper Classic, and Mr. Stackman, all Puzzle games with a nostalgic retro flair, but all being sub-par ports of mediocre games. Players nostalgic for the era of games this bundle’s titles are inspired by may find this trio charming, and the pricing is a better deal than buying the games individually, but even so I think most players are better off getting something else.
