Review:

Cyber AI Defense is a Tower Defense game released in 2025 on Nintendo Switch. This game has players setting up turrets to fend off invading drones and high-tech tanks to keep them from attacking your safehouse in a futuristic cyberpunk-style environment.

The presentation here is one of Cyber AI Defense’s best qualities, with some nice, detailed 2D pixel art visuals depicting a futuristic city with holographic displays clearly inspired by Blade Runner and other similar media, with neon fish swimming in the air around one building and a giant rotating hamburger atop another. These visuals are backed by a techno-style soundtrack that fits the rest of the game quite well.

Unfortunately, that’s where my compliments have to end, because Cyber AI Defense is a terrible Tower Defense game. You only get three spots to install towers, with roughly a dozen more that slowly unlock as you continue playing in an order you don’t decide. What’s more, your towers don’t have any noteworthy difference other than being more powerful the more expensive they get. There is pretty much zero strategy here other than “install the most expensive tower you can in one of the few spots the game will let you, and replace it when it’s destroyed”.

On that note, you aren’t given an indication what your towers’ attack radius is, can’t repair towers, can’t upgrade towers, and the entire game takes place on one map… pretty much everything that forms the meat of the gameplay in a Tower Defense game is not present here.

Because of the dull, brainless gameplay, I cannot recommend Cyber AI Defense. The presentation here is great, but that hardly matters when the gameplay itself offers players zero meaningful choices and zero agency in deciding how to do anything. You have plenty of other options in this genre on Nintendo Switch, play something else instead.

tl;dr – Cyber AI Defense is a Tower Defense game set in a cyberpunk-style futuristic city where you must defend a safehouse against invading drones and tanks. The presentation here is very good, but the gameplay is absolutely braindead, offering players no meaningful choices or variety. Do not buy this game.
