Review:

Condo is a Walking Simulator released in 2025 on PC and ported to Nintendo Switch in 2026. The game is free to download on PC, but Nintendo Switch players will pay $2 to pick it up, likely to pay for the cost of porting. That said, this doesn’t feel like a miniscule effort, and there was clearly some thought put into this game, though I do think that how it lands will really depend on your own personal sensibilities.

This is because Condo isn’t really a narrative-focused experience or a game with strong gameplay elements, but instead a game that seems to be running purely off of “vibes”. Players take the role of a man whose relationship seems to be suffering due to his workaholism, but that doesn’t seem to be what the story is about. Rather, as players walk around their apartment building’s interior and speak with some of the other residents, it becomes clear that pretty much everyone is suffering from depression, a feeling of frustrated stagnation, and an existential despair with an abundance of introspection and ennui. Given that your floor is decorated with paintings titled “History for Sale” and “Cultural Displacement”, the atmosphere of somber defeatism and unhappiness seems to have seeped everywhere into this place.

This is enhanced by a striking visual style that uses relatively simple 3D environments peopled by indeterminate black figures, overlaid with a static filter, with some really nice use of color. These visuals are only marred a bit by some recurring framerate issues. All of this is backed by a droning, oppressive soundtrack that perfectly fits the game’s theme.

When it comes to gameplay, players are generally trying to find a way to unlock eight achievements, mostly through specific kinds of interactions. You’re not told what these interactions are, you you’ll be exploring the different ways you can speak to characters, different paths in their conversation trees, and other things to do in the environment. Oh, and find 7 trophies hidden around the place.

You can see and do pretty much everything Condo has to offer in about an hour, give or take, and whether or not that’s worth it to you really depends on what you’re looking for here. Like I said above, if you’re looking for compelling narrative or gameplay, you won’t find it here. But if you can enjoy a game that does an excellent job delivering some somber vibes for an hour or so, I think you may find this one worth your $2.

tl;dr – Condo is a Walking Simulator where players wander around their somber apartment building chatting with similarly depressed people. This game doesn’t have much to offer in the way of narrative or gameplay, and it’ll only take you an hour or so to see everything there is here. But if you can enjoy a game purely for its atmosphere, I think you’ll find this game worth its $2 price tag.

Grade: C+
