Nintendo Switch Online October 2026 Releases for Game Boy – Overview

Nintendo just added three games to their Nintendo Switch Online Game Boy app. Let’s have a look at them!

Here’s what I thought of each:

Game Boy App

GameGenre# of PlayersScore
Avenging SpiritAction-Platformer1C
tl;drThis game’s possession mechanic, allowing you to play virtually any enemy, is great. What’s not so great is this game’s repetitive, labyrinthine level design.
Mole ManiaTop-Down Arcade / Puzzle1B+
tl;drThis is a really creative Top-Down Arcade-style game with Puzzle elements, with really clever gameplay and level design. Definitely a hidden gem in the OG Game Boy lineup.
Revenge of the GatorPinball1C
tl;drHAL Laboratory’s first game on the Game Boy, before they introduced the world to Kirby. This game isn’t as well-crafted as Kirby’s Pinball Land, but it’s still a decent entry in the genre.

Two of the three releases in this update are decent but far from great. Mole Mania, on the other hand, is one of the finest examples of a hidden gem in the Nintendo Switch’s game library, and a must-have on the platform. It’s not quite like anything else on the Game Boy, and in fact it’s fairly different from any other game in general.

As for the other games, Avenging Spirit is a great concept executed poorly, and Revenge of the Gator is interesting in that it creates the foundation that later Kirby’s Pinball Land would be built upon. But as actual games, I think you have better things you could be playing.

Overall, a lopsided but still extremely welcome addition to the Game Boy app’s library this month!

tl;dr – The Game Boy app gets three games – Avenging Spirit, Mole Mania, and Revenge of the Gator. Of the three games, only Mole Mania is truly worth playing, but that game is also one of the finest hidden gems in the original Game Boy’s lineup. As a result, this is a very lopsided update, yet still one that is absolutely welcome, even if only for one game.
