Nintendo has been steadily updating their Nintendo Switch game library with Nintendo Switch 2 updates, patches, and Nintendo Switch 2 Edition upgrades. Thus far, the Luigi’s Mansion games haven’t been given any sort of update, but they may do so in the future. However, until then, I decided to have a look to see if this game benefits from the Nintendo Switch 2 hardware even without an update. Let’s have a look!

Well, I have some good news and some bad news. The bad news is that the only difference I see playing this game on Nintendo Switch 2 is the loading times. No improvements to framerate or resolution that I can see. The good news is… wow, these loading times are much-improved. On Nintendo Switch, it took me 53 seconds to load to the title screen and 20 seconds to transition from E. Gadd’s place into an actual location with gameplay. On Nintendo Switch 2, those same times are reduced to 8 seconds and 9 seconds.

It’s not enough of a change to truly affect the gameplay experience, and it definitely isn’t enough of a change to justify this game’s price, but it’s impressive all the same. If you’re playing Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD on Nintendo Switch 2, you’ll be saving yourself a fair amount of time every time you start up the game. Not bad!

tl;dr – Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon is the second game in this Action Puzzle franchise starring Mario’s brother cowering and vacuuming his way through a gorgeous game with tons of personality and a fascinating world to explore. Unfortunately, this release changes little from the original Nintendo 3DS version of the game, and yet it jacks the price up a full $20, making this feel like a rip-off, especially when Luigi’s Mansion 3 is the same price and a better game overall. Play that instead.

Well, I have some good news and some bad news. The bad news is that the only difference I see playing this game on Nintendo Switch 2 is the loading times. No improvements to framerate or resolution that I can see. The good news is… wow, these loading times are much-improved. On Nintendo Switch, it took me a whopping 2 minutes 56 seconds to load to the title screen and 1 minute 6 seconds to load a game save. On Nintendo Switch 2, those same times are vacuumed up until they’re a miniscule 20 seconds and 9 seconds. That’s an improvement only rivaled by Monster Hunter Rise when it comes to biggest loading time reductions!

In short, Luigi’s Mansion 3 is a brilliant game no matter where you play it, but if you’re playing it on Nintendo Switch 2, you’ll spend far less time waiting for loading times. That alone makes this an improved experience.

tl;dr – Luigi’s Mansion 3 is an absolutely gorgeous family-friendly game about Mario’s cowardly brother once again having to save the day by using a vacuum to suck up ghosts in a haunted mansion er, hotel. This game has a stunning presentation, that makes it one of the best-looking games on the Nintendo Switch, as well as excellent gameplay that combines Puzzle and Action elements with exploration in a way that’s truly unique. There are a few areas that could do with improvement, but overall this is absolutely a top-tier game on the Nintendo Switch that everyone who owns the console should consider getting, and playing it on Nintendo Switch 2 even results in massively-reduced loading times!
