Review:

Mini Golf & Pool Bundle, released on Nintendo Switch in 2022, is a Compilation containing the two versions of Mini-Golf, and one version of Pool that plays a lot like a Mini-Golf game, previously released on Nintendo Switch in 2019 and 2022.

I have separately reviewed these games. Here is what I thought of each of the games in this collection:

GameGenre# of PlayersScore
Pocket Mini GolfSports (Mini Golf)1-4 Competitive (Local Alternating)C-
tl;drPocket Mini Golf is a Mini Golf game originally released to Smartphones, and its mobile design is very apparent here, both in its simple, satisfying gameplay, but also in its broken game progression designed around a microtransaction system that’s no longer present in the game. The result is a game with decent gameplay that’s too frustrating to provide more than a brief distraction.
Pocket Mini Golf 2Sports (Mini Golf)1-4 Competitive (Local Split-Screen)B-
tl;drPocket Mini Golf 2 is a Mini Golf game that improves on its predecessor quite a bit, fixing much of what was wrong in the prior game. Unfortunately, it also changes the controls, making them worse. However, despite this issue, this is still overall a good budget Mini-Golf game, and fans of this sort of game should find this to their liking.
Pocket PoolSports (Pool) / Sports (Mini-Golf)1-4 Competitive (Local Split-Screen)B-
tl;drPocket Pool is a game that combines mechanics of Pool and Mini-Golf to make something quirky that’s sorta’ halfway between the two. It may not be what fans of Pool are expecting, and the game isn’t especially deep, but it’s an enjoyable if somewhat simple game that’s worth the low $4 price tag.

In short, two of the three games here are pretty good takes on Mini-Golf, and one is a good take on Mini-Golf that’s made worse because of the vestigial mess left behind by microtransactions. And maybe it seems odd to you that I’m saying a Pool game is a take on Mini-Golf, but when you’re trying to get from one end of a location to another to reach one hole but there are various obstacles and odd geometry in your way… yeah, that’s more like Mini-Golf than Pool at that point.

All three of these games are budget titles, so you might be wondering how that factors into the value when you put them in a bundle together. And the answer is… pretty good, actually. Separately, these games would cost $11.50, and this bundle is selling for $8. If we look at sale prices, it gets even better, as all of the individual games drop down to $2, and the bundle also drops down to $2, making this basically a “buy 1 get 2 free” deal. Very nice!

These might not be the best Mini-Golf games out there, but they’re enjoyable, and this bundle is a good value all-around. If you’re looking to add a few light Mini-Golf games to your game collection on Nintendo Switch, this is a solid choice.

tl;dr – Mini Golf & Pool Bundle is a Compilation containing Pocket Mini Golf 1 and 2, as well as Pocket Pool, all three games different takes on Mini-Golf (yes, even Pocket Pool). Two of these three games are good, and this bundle is an amazing value. Overall, this is a good bet if you’re wanting to pick up a few smaller Sports games on Nintendo Switch.

Grade: B
