Review:

(Note: Cook, Serve, Delicious! 2!!, included in this bundle, is also in Cook, Serve, Delicious! 2/3 Bundle!! along with Cook, Serve, Delicious! 3?!. And all three games are included in Cook, Serve, Delicious, Trilogy!.)

Cook, Serve, Delicious! 1/2 Bundle!!, released on Nintendo Switch in 2023 and ported to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2024, is a Compilation the two named games, both Arcade-style games with some Simulation elements, previously released on Nintendo Switch in 2023 and 2019, respectively.

I have separately reviewed these games. Here is what I thought of each of the games in this collection:

GameGenre# of PlayersScore
Cook, Serve, Delicious!Arcade / Simulation1-4 Co-Op / Competitive (Local)B-
tl;drCook, Serve, Delicious! is an Arcade-style game with some Simulation elements that has players managing a restaurant and serving orders to customers. I think this is a more frantic game than its sequel, and it has a lot less in the way of variety, but it’s still an enjoyable game that’s worth a look.
Cook, Serve, Delicious! 2!!Arcade / Simulation1-2 Co-Op (Local Split-Screen)B
tl;drCook, Serve, Delicious! 2!! is an Arcade-style game with Simulation elements that doesn’t play much like Overcooked or Cooking Mama. It’s more like a food version of Simon Says, with multiple steps for some items. The game does a good job keeping things interesting by having you manage multiple things at once, and it makes for a good co-op experience, although it’s frustrating that it doesn’t do a better job to make important information immediately accessible to players in the chaos.

In short, I think these are both pretty good games, and while I do think 2’s greater variety and more nuanced gameplay (lack of four player notwithstanding) makes it the better of the two, I think both are enjoyable games well worth playing.

Okay, but what about value? Individually, each of these games costs $13, meaning the bundle price of $23 only saves you $3 off the total cost of both. However, looking at sale prices as of this writing, the bundle actually costs a tiny bit more, with the $5 price tag of this bundle’s sale price putting it higher than the individual sale prices of the two games, which will cost you $4 and some change.

Overall, while the games contained within Cook, Serve, Delicious! 1/2 Bundle!! are both good, the lack of any significant savings in this bundle makes it less than ideal. If you’re considering buying this, I highly recommend you compare the price of this bundle to the prices of the individual games – you may just find it’s better to get the games on their own, or perhaps upgrade to the Cook, Serve, Delicious, Trilogy! bundle.

tl;dr – Cook, Serve, Delicious! 1/2 Bundle! contains the first two games in the Cook, Serve, Delicious series of Arcade-style games with Simulation elements, and both of these games are quite good. The bundle, on the other hand, is of dubious value, and you’ll want to compare the price of this bundle to the price of getting each game on its own. You might just find it less expensive to do the latter.

Grade: B-
