Review:
Capybara, Ducks, Rats and Bananas Bundle is a Compilation released in 2024 on Nintendo Switch, containing four games, released separately on Nintendo Switch in 2022 and 2023.
I have separately reviewed these games. Here is what I thought of each of the games in this collection:
| Game | Genre | # of Players | Score |
|---|---|---|---|
| Capybara Madness | 3D Platformer / Puzzle-Platformer | 1 | D |
tl;drCapybara Madness is a 3D Platformer and physics-based Puzzle-Platformer where players run through obstacle courses as an anthropomorphic capybara. This game is clearly imitating the style of gameplay we see in Human: Fall Flat, but with worse controls, terrible platforming, unimaginative level design, and terrible repetitive music. Even though it’s cheaper than the game it’s copying, it’s not worth it. | |||
| Ducky Quacky | 3D Platformer | 1 | D- |
tl;drDucky Quacky is a 3D Platformer where players control a duck. This game is rudimentary to the point of being unfinished, and does absolutely nothing to distinguish itself, make it worth playing, or even excuse its multiple flaws. Do not buy this game. | |||
| Ratyboy Adventures | 3D Platformer | 1 | D |
tl;drRatyboy Adventures is a 3D Platformer where players take the role of an anthropomorphic rat collecting all of the cheese in each of the game’s levels. Unfortunately, while the game initially seems okay, it doesn’t take long to reveal it is absolutely loaded with a laundry list of problems. The result is a game that’s tedious and frustrating to play, and one I cannot recommend. Do not buy this. | |||
| Revenge of Banana | First-Person Shooter | 1 | D |
tl;drRevenge of Banana is a First-Person Shooter where players use fruits and vegetables as weapons to fight enemies that are also fruits and vegetables. As amusing as this silly premise is, the gameplay is so tedious and poorly-constructed that you’ll bore of it very quickly. Skip it. | |||
In short, all of these games are terrible. I suppose when I reviewed these I felt Ducky Quacky was particularly bad because it felt unfinished, but really all of these games are absolutely games you shouldn’t play or spend money on. It’s an odd selection too, largely due to Revenge of Banana, which isn’t in the same genre as the other games, and doesn’t star an animal like the other games, so it just seems like a game that was jammed in with the others because it was pushed out by the same publisher.
But… okay, just for the sake of argument, let’s say that you were committed to buying these terrible games. Would the bundle save you some cash? Let’s have a look. Separately these games cost $26, which is honestly insane given how low-effort these games are. The bundle, meanwhile, sells for $17… which is definitely an improvement, yet still feels terribly overpriced. If we’re looking at sales, the individual games go on sale at irregular times and at odd prices, but if you’re patient and watchful you can probably get them separately for under $4. The bundle, meanwhile, has gone on sale for just over $3. So yeah, you’ll save money by getting this.
Having said that… I implore you, please do not buy Capybara, Ducks, Rats and Bananas Bundle. I wasted the money on these games so you don’t have to. And yes, I’m saying “wasted” even though I just said you can get all four games for under $4. If I wasn’t reviewing these games I would rather just have my $4 back. There’s nothing here that you’ll want to play for more than a few minutes, and even then it will be a sloppy, unpolished, poorly-executed few minutes.
tl;dr – Capybara, Ducks, Rats and Bananas Bundle is a Compilation containing Capybara Madness, Ducky Quacky, Ratyboy Adventures, and Revenge of Banana. All four of these games are terrible, and even though this bundle does offer some savings over buying the games individually, they’re still not worth it, even when this bundle goes on sale for a few bucks. Put those few dollars towards actual good games instead.
